Tamsin Evans - Director of Pure Creative Arts
Tamsin works full time as the Managing Director of Pure Creative Arts, which she originally founded in September 2003. Since then she has worked with others to develop the organisation into a charity (June 2006) and company limited by guarantee (March 2006) and has built up a team of volunteers over the past three years.
Tamsin's day-to-day role focuses on implementing the vision of Pure and giving direction, both creatively within theatre work and strategically in areas such as funding, marketing, budget and developing the company’s work locally and nationally. Tamsin writes material for the theatre productions and the songs used within these productions. She also leads the Pure schools work team, performs as an actor with the theatre company and leads the Pure band.
Prior to coming to Liverpool, initially to study at LIPA, Tamsin toured nationally with Activate Theatre Company in 1999-2000 around schools in the UK with a programme of high quality performances, lessons, workshops and evening concerts. Tamsin graduated from LIPA in 2003 with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in Performing Arts. Whilst at LIPA, Tamsin set up a theatre company called Elevate which toured the Liverpool schools with a performance called "The Pressure', accompanied by a forum-style workshop.
Since her time at LIPA Tamsin has also taught acting on an HND course and at a Liverpool stage school, as well as having worked in the areas of marketing, office management and copy writing. As well as her degree, Tamsin has qualifications in counselling, and singing as well as completing a short course in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.
What's the best thing about being a Christian?
That I am able to have a relationship with the creator of the universe who loves me!! That there is nothing I can ever do to change the way he feels about me, I'm accepted, I belong... and he has the best plans for me and is in control of my life. That I pray and see awesome answers to my prayers... and that he has things for me to do that he designed me specially for.
Who's your favourite Bible Character?
Esther because she was obedient to God fulfilled his plans for her and saved her entire nation from death- she risked her life and knew that God had placed her for that very purpose and she was beautiful! Also David, I love the relationship he had with God and how he wrote songs and was not afraid of what people thought of him, and would just be himself for God.
What's your favourite thing about Pure?
Seeing the dreams God has given me realised...getting a glimpse of his heart for girls and the fact that he has allowed me to do my dream job and work for him in this way.
